The story

About Christmas at Castle Hart

Two out-of-work sisters from New York spend an inheritance on a trip to Ireland at Christmas to trace their father's family. Mistaken for a celebrated event planner, the elder is hired by a castle's reserved young earl to stage its big Christmas party, and keeps up the pretence rather longer than is wise. Lacey Chabert and Stuart Townsend lead.

The CineClaus verdict

Lacey Chabert, an Irish castle and a case of mistaken identity: if you know Hallmark, you know the shape before the opening titles. Two sisters go looking for their Irish roots, one is taken for a famous party planner, and a reserved earl hires her to run his Christmas ball.

It was shot at real castles in County Clare and reviews single out the scenery, critics found Stuart Townsend a convincing earl, and nobody watches this for surprises.

Not BBFC rated

Our take: not rated by the BBFC. A clean romance with nothing to worry about beyond a lie that comes out; younger children will be bored long before they are upset.
