Terms
The rules for using this site. Short, because most of it is common sense, and the parts that are not are the parts we have tried hardest to make plain.

Who runs this
cineclaus.com is operated by Digitopia Design Ltd (company number 12037302), registered at 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. Using the site means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.
The scores are opinions
Festive Factor and Cosiness Rating are our editorial judgement, arrived at with a documented method and applied consistently. They are not facts, not a measure of quality, and not a claim about any film’s commercial performance or reputation. Reasonable people will disagree with them, and we would think less of you if you never did.
Verdicts and reviews are honest opinion, held in good faith, published for the benefit of readers choosing what to watch.
Age ratings and what the kids can watch
Read this bit properly — it is the part that could actually matter.
Where we show a BBFC certificate, that is the certificate the BBFC issued. Our note about what a film is like for younger viewers is not: it is our judgement, about a hypothetical child, and children differ enormously in what they find frightening.
Use it as a starting point, not a decision. You know your child; we do not. If a film matters to you, preview it. We are not liable for a child being upset by a film we described as fine — and we would much rather say that plainly here than imply a confidence we cannot have.
Certificates can also differ between cinema, DVD and streaming versions of the same film, and can be recut for television. Check the version you are actually about to watch.
Where to find things, and whether it is right
Streaming availability changes constantly and without warning. Anything we say about where a film is showing was true when we wrote it and may not be true now. We do not control it and cannot promise it.
We work hard to get the facts right — release years, certificates, running times — and we would genuinely like to know when we have not. Tell us and we will fix it.
Affiliate links
Some links to shops earn us a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, Cine Claus earns from qualifying purchases.
Commission never affects a score or a verdict. Films are watched and scored before anything is linked to them, and we do not take payment to include a film, raise a score or write about anything. If that ever changes, it will say so on the page, prominently, before you read it.
Your purchase is a contract with that shop, not with us. Their terms, their returns policy, their customer service.
Who owns what
The writing, the scores, the scoring method and the original illustrations on this site belong to Digitopia Design Ltd. Please do not republish them. Quoting a line with a link back is welcome and always will be.
Film titles, and the films themselves, belong to their rights holders. We name them to review and discuss them, which is what film criticism is. We do not use posters, stills or screenshots anywhere on this site — every image is original illustration, commissioned for it.
Using the site
Please do not:
- scrape or bulk-copy the content, including the scores;
- try to break, overload or get into parts of the site that are not yours;
- use it for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms other people using it.
We may suspend access if any of that happens. The mailing list is opt-in and you can leave from any email in one click.
What we are and are not responsible for
The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or remove any of it.
We are not liable for losses arising from relying on the site — including a film being unavailable, a certificate having changed, or a recommendation not suiting your family.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
