Winslow Fegleyas AndyAbout The Naughty Nine
A mischievous boy wakes on Christmas morning to find no present from Father Christmas and decides the naughty list has cheated him. He recruits eight other children who were left off the good list, each with a useful knack, and leads them on an elaborate heist at the North Pole to take the presents they think they are owed. Somewhere between the planning and the break-in they work out that putting their talents to good use is the only real way off the list.
A heist film for children, built on a grievance most of them have nursed at some point: the present that never turned up. Winslow Fegley leads a crew of scheming kids against Father Christmas himself, and Danny Glover plays him with enough patience to let the lesson land softly.
The plotting is cartoonish and the jokes skew young, but the practical sets give it a handmade warmth that streaming originals often lack. Made for primary pupils who love a caper, while parents get a pleasant, forgettable evening.
Can the kids watch?
Our take: from about six it should go down well, with mild peril, a few chases and plenty of cheeky behaviour, all of it put right by the end.
