The verdict

The sequel does what sequels of this kind do: more plot, more shouting, and rather less of the loose charm that made the first one work. Tennant throws himself at it with no dignity whatsoever, which is most of the fun. The improvised classroom material still lands, the road-trip half is thinner, and the songs are better than the film around them. Watch it after the first, expect less, and it holds up perfectly well.
