About Merry Little Batman
The city's famous caped crime-fighter has retired to raise his eight-year-old son, a boy desperate to follow in his father's footsteps. When his dad is called away on Christmas Eve, the lad is left at the family mansion, where a pair of burglars break in and run off with his treasured toy utility belt. His chase after them spirals into a fight with a gang of supervillains who plan to ruin Christmas for the whole city.
A Prime Video original that treats its caped hero with more mischief than reverence.
The spindly, Searle-inspired character designs are its strongest asset, and the stretch with two hapless burglars is a cheerfully daft Home Alone tribute. Christmas sets the clock more than it moves the heart, and the closing punch-up is standard superhero business.
Children who wear a cape to the shops will be thrilled, and parents raised on offbeat nineties cartoons may enjoy it more than they expected.
Can the kids watch?
Our take: rated PG for mild bad language, comic violence and threat, all of it cartoon-scale, so most children of five and up can enjoy it without worry.
