Christmas TV
Not Going Out Christmas specials
British, BBC One, first shown 2006
About the show
Lee Mack's studio sitcom for BBC One, a gag-packed comedy that began in 2006 with a work-shy joker lodging with his landlady and grew, after their wedding, into a family comedy about the same couple with three children in the suburbs. It was cancelled after its third series in 2009 and brought back after a fan campaign, and it reached its 100th episode with the 2023 Christmas special, the longest-running sitcom then on air. Christmas is its tradition: since 2007 it has made more than ten festive episodes, most of them shown on Christmas Eve, from a murder-mystery game and a haunted country house to a live show, a pantomime dream and a care-home guest who must not be given a drink.
