Festive Factor measures how Christmassy a film is. Five ingredients add up to 100: story (30), setting (20), seasonal details (15), emotional heart (20) and returning tradition (15).
Cosiness is a separate score for warmth of tone, sense of safety, visual comfort, a reassuring ending and how easily you can settle into it.
How the Festive Factor works →Three grown brothers try to give their family the best Christmas yet while their mother plans to sell the home they grew up in. One is expecting twins, one is planning a wedding and one is weighing a job in another city. Paul Campbell, Tyler Hynes and Andrew W. Walker reprise their roles as the Brenner brothers in the third and final film of the series.
A third outing for three brothers who treat Christmas as a project plan: one baby on the way, one wedding to organise, one job offer with a Christmas Day deadline. It is broad, busy and mostly farce, with a mall Santa, a night in the cells and a dinner that goes off in all directions.
Barbara's plan to sell the family home gives it a lump in the throat. Luke, Stephan and Taylor are good company, and the ending sends you to bed happy.
Our take: fine from about six: the trouble is slapstick, a night in a police cell and a dash to hospital, all played for laughs.
