The story

About A Keller Christmas Vacation

Two parents give their three grown-up children a Christmas river cruise through Germany and Austria. The siblings have drifted apart and each arrives with troubles of their own. Missed connections, new friends and romantic ups and downs follow, until a family secret about their father's health draws them together. Jonathan Bennett, Brandon Routh and Eden Sher lead, directed by Maclain Nelson.

The CineClaus verdict

A Hallmark film that behaves better than the label suggests.

Three grown siblings are sent on a Christmas river cruise by their parents, and the market stops and gift swaps are pleasant backdrop rather than engine. What drives it is a family secret about their father's health, handled with more restraint than the genre usually bothers with.

The romances are thin and you will see the ending coming. Still, it is warm, easy company for a quiet December evening, and the scenery is lovely.

Not BBFC rated

Our take: fine for most children, though a parent's serious illness is discussed and may prompt questions from younger ones.
