About the show
The longest-running scripted series in television history, an animated sitcom about a working-class American family that began as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show before its first full episode in December 1989. That first episode was a Christmas story, and the show has returned to the season again and again since: a missing bonus and a racing dog, a stolen video game, a burnt tree, a toy that destroys other toys, a would-be finale set thirty years ahead, and a 35th-anniversary special made for Disney+. Its Christmas episodes mix satire of the commercial season with a surprisingly sincere belief in family, and the best of them sit among the finest holiday television ever made.
