About the show
Modern Family is an American sitcom shot in mock-documentary style, following three related households in Los Angeles: a retired businessman and his much younger second wife and her son, his daughter's busy suburban family of five, and his son's household with his partner and their adopted daughter. It ran for eleven seasons on ABC from 2009 to 2020 and was shown in the UK on Sky One. Its Christmas episodes come round almost every other year and chart the family growing up: a first Christmas threatened by a punishment, a whole Christmas crammed into one afternoon, a snowless cabin trip, a Christmas Eve announcement and, finally, one last Christmas dinner before everyone scatters.
